ABOUT ABOUT

What kind of wireless facilities require mandatory approval from local governments? The FCC created those rules in 2014 and they apply to sites both in and outside of public rights-of-way.

Since then many states have passed legislation directing, and sometimes restricting, what local governments must do in siting wireless facilities in public rights-of-way. Here in Washington, legislation is pending that will require certain changes in local siting practices. There are also open proceedings at the FCC and bills circulating in Congress that could have further preemptory effects on local control of siting wireless facilities in the rights-of-way and on other government property.

What can cities, towns and counties do?

Join us for an important and vital overview and Q&A on state and federal laws impacting the siting of wireless facilities - with nationally recognized telecommunications attorney, Ken Fellman. Ken will also discuss the preparation of a model rights-of-way ordinance that RCC members can utilize in determining how best to modify current regulations to maximize local control while acting within the parameters of state and federal law.

Attendance is FREE, but seating is limited to the first 100 registrants – sign up today.
